Research Production

"Students will be able to produce writing that demonstrates their ability to

navigate choices and constraints in a variety of public and/or academic

research genres that matter to specific communities"

| Literature Review Final Draft |

After what I thought was navigating through the constraints that meant choosing and picking what secondary sources I'd use in my research, it was not until my finalized Literature Review Draft (Artifact #1) that my research production skills were really put to the test. The purpose of the literature review assignment was for students to synthesize all of their secondary sources together well enough that they show ongoing scholarly conversations or arguments between them. As I was writing, some of my sources were not matching with other sources I had. For this, I had to go back and read each of my sources thoroughly, research more articles regarding the sphere of my topic, which all spanned in genres, and then further decide which ones I needed to swap out or remove entirely, all while I wasn't even sure if I was doing the proper thing for my research or making a good decision. In the end, I successfully removed one source and swapped two that did not converse with my other sources and my Literature Review came toget

| Primary Data Analysis Conference Reflection |

For this outcome, I also chose to include the Primary Data Analysis Conference (Artifact #2)  that we had with Professor Proulx right before we pondered on writing our research paper. In this specific task, we had to give a detailed summary of the research that we had already done with our primary data and began debating on how we would extract, measure and then display that data on our IMRAD research paper. By the time I had the conference with this professor, I had already begun my primary research data process with my podcasts and their content. I then began to categorize my results and make decisions about which form I would display these results. This process was not easy, as seen in the attached document; I had made some of my own suggestions regarding if I should only evaluate one podcast, the one I was more familiar with, to minimize the amount of possible disorganization.

At this point in my journey, right after achieving the incredibly large obstacle of finishing my literature review. I felt like I was seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, or the peak of the mountain top...

Though, as I now had to begin my primary data process I realized that the peak was still not yet there. I realized that I needed to keep evaluating sources, see where they fit the best, and now I had to present my primary data, perhaps the whole sphere of my project, which felt incredibly nerve-racking.
